About Toolshed

Toolshed is a small, independently run collection of browser-based tools and technical guides for IT professionals and developers — a JSON formatter, a cron explainer, a Base64 encoder, and more, alongside articles that come from real problems hit during real work. Every tool runs entirely client-side: nothing you paste or type into one is ever sent anywhere, which you can verify yourself by checking your browser's network tab while using one.

The articles follow the same standard the tools do — a bug that took an hour to track down, a config option that behaved unexpectedly, a comparison that took actual research to get right rather than a rewritten summary of someone else's article.

Some of what's here is written with AI assistance and reviewed before publishing; none of it is auto-published without that review. Where a factual claim matters — a pricing detail, a terms-of-service restriction, a technical limit — it's checked against a primary source before going up, and the sources are listed at the bottom of each guide.

This is a young, actively growing site — both the tool library and the article collection are expanding. If something here is wrong or out of date, that's worth knowing about — a way to reach out is being set up and will be linked here shortly.
